After a crazy 2020, a lot of people are looking forward to getting back to normal in 2021. For many, that means revitalising their home interiors.
The kitchen is often the heart of any home – a place for food, drink, and socialising. Even if we can’t do that last one as much as we’d like this year, you can still refresh your kitchen with a bright new look for Spring/Summer 2021.
Make magic with monochrome
Black and white doesn’t have to be boring. Some people feel that if they don’t have bright colours in a room, it can be too plain. However, this trend offers beautiful clean lines, bold contrasts, and a really fresh look – perfect for any kitchen.
Find the right balance of dark and light for you, depending on the size of your room. Smaller kitchens benefit from more white shades, while large rooms can get away with more contrasting blacks and greys.
Quartz adds some sparkle
Stone worktops also add a touch of luxury to a kitchen, and white quartz is the stone of choice for summer 2021. Sleek, smooth, and with a glossy finish if you so choose, white quartz gives a really distinctive finish to your kitchen redesign.
Light, bright, and effortlessly classy, white quartz is both durable and eye-catching. It offers enough variety in shades and patterns to give your kitchen a unique feel, while being affordable and available at most stores.
Shades of grey
Don’t let the current influx of Instagram pics put you off – grey tones have not gone out of style yet, and are still a big hit with interior designs this year, especially in kitchens.
Because the kitchen is a room you want to keep clean and fresh, grey tones work really well. It’s a good colour to balance light and dark, so if you have a very bright kitchen, it can help tone things down, and if you have a dark room, it can add some brightness.
The authentic stone look
Sometimes only the genuine article will do, and that’s why real stone floors are slated to be big in summer 2021 (no pun intended!)
And real stone gives you so much choice! From limestone and sandstone, to porcelain and flagstone – there is a colour, shape and texture that’s perfect for your kitchen. And don’t worry about the winter months once summer is over, stone won’t leave your kitchen freezing cold. You can even get underfloor heating if you really want to keep things snug!
Keep it simple
The big overarching trend for kitchens in spring/summer 2021 is KISS – Keep It Simple, Stupid! Don’t go overboard when something more subtle will have a much better effect.
As we’re spending more time at home at the moment, you want your kitchen to be a haven in your home. Keep worktops clutter-free, simplify your appliances, and tone down the colours to give your kitchen a clean and fresh feel every day.
